Harbor Boulevard Beautification
Costa Mesa, California
City of Costa Mesa
Harbor Boulevard, a main commercial thoroughfare just off the 405 freeway, is a major gateway into the city. Street improvements were designed to enhance the overall experience. The medians were improved by removing the turf groundcover, while keeping the existing trees. Appropriate drought tolerant plant material like the Strawberry Tree, Forest Pansy Redbud, and Australian Willow were added and accented by a mix of succulents, ornamental grasses and shrubs. Decorative boulders and cobble weave through the new planting design. The large group of boulders work as a retaining wall creating subtle elevation changes within the medians.
